This guide is aimed at healthcare personnel who want to supplement knowledge related to the administration of drugs by parenteral route. It has been written with a practical orientation in order to be especially useful for the nursing personnel who carry out their activity in the hospitalization units.
The information has been compiled and reviewed by pharmacists at the Son Espases University Hospital in Palma de Mallorca (Spain), who since 1995 have published various printed and electronic editions.
Regarding version 1.0 of this application, this version includes as main new features information on compatibility with parenteral nutrition and recommendations for the protection of private health professionals to take into account in the preparation and administration of dangerous drugs.
You can access the file for each drug from an alphabetical index, searching both by active ingredient and by trade name. In addition, it allows you to configure a list of favorite drugs to facilitate access to the most interesting files for each healthcare professional.
Each card follows the following basic scheme:
- Presentations: trade name, presentations and doses.
- Reconstitution: specific instructions for preparation.
- Conservation / Stability: instructions for conservation.
- Administration: admitted routes of administration, specific instructions for each route, compatible solutions, compatibility with parenteral nutrition, protection of healthcare personnel, observations .
- References: specific sources from which the information was obtained.
- Link to the technical data sheet of the medicine: for more information on important aspects such as clinical indications, recommended dosage and precautions.
- Notes page: the user can take his notes for each tab.
