Strategies in Emergencies

Since the first edition of the book Therapeutic Strategies in Emergency Medicine was published in 1998, we have been expanding, reviewing and updating the therapeutic indications of the different nosological entities that the emergency doctor faces in their daily work, up to the 4th edition recently published on paper (2012).
Throughout these years, the therapeutic guidelines reflected in the book have sought to help both physicians in training and emergency physicians and others specialists who have to face the quick decisions that the medical emergency implies. However, and despite the fact that emergency services have become a universal access door to the health system, forcing emergency physicians to expand their knowledge more and more, this book has never had the ambition of a medical treatise internal. Its index is fundamentally limited to those pathologies whose severity or difficulty of immediate treatment requires prompt and written support of the guidelines to be followed in each case.
In each chapter an exhaustive review based on evidence has been carried out , of the therapeutic regimens of the different diseases contemplated in the index. No detail has been sought in the pathophysiology or pathogenesis of diseases, since it is in other books or treatises where these answers must be sought. Instead, emphasis has been sought on the methodical treatment of each medical emergency, transferring it as always to a language that allows the psychological representation of the steps to be followed to achieve therapeutic success. In the field of medical emergencies, where the time available to make decisions is scarce, targeted support is necessary for the professional to administer the appropriate treatment, in the shortest possible time. This has been the philosophy of the work.
