smart buffle is the mobile learning platform of the Deutsche Bahn for trainees of the professional group EIB. (Railway workers in operations)
Access is via the learning management system.
The app helps the trainees to quickly and easily train learning content and to anchor it there sustainably.
This is done with the help of a structured resubmission system. Depending on the learning objective, the learner has 3 special learning modes available.
The power mode is particularly suitable for short-term exam preparation, the long-term memory mode is based on the forgetting curve of people and ensures the sustainable development of knowledge. The exam mode offers itself as a final test of learning success. Detailed statistics on the current learning status as well as a reminder function via push notification provide orientation and motivation.
What is special about the learning content is that it was created by trainees as part of an internal railway project. They contain questions and answers in the form of digital index cards and multiple choice tasks on relevant topics such as signal groups, lane plan (regular operation), mechanics (regular operation), management of the driving service or signals for a route block. Since Deutsche Bahn, like many large companies, has developed its own technical language, the app contains not only official abbreviations but also a large number of informal abbreviations that are now firmly anchored in the technical language of employees.
The app also supports learners in the area of individual self-learning. You can create your own multimedia tasks in no time at all, share them with others and train them efficiently.
